Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will meet with billionaire Elon Musk to discuss cooperation in various fields, including space technology and electric car batteries.
This was reported by Bloomberg, as reported by Ukrinform.
Erdogan will meet Musk this week at the newly built Turkish House, not far from the UN headquarters, where the General Assembly will convene.
The Turkish president sees the planned launch of the Turksat 6A satellite in June 2024 as an important milestone in terms of gathering intelligence that can be used for military purposes.
Musk met with Erdogan in Ankara in 2017.
It was noted that Musk’s company, SpaceX, cooperated with the Turkish space program to launch communication satellites. Turkey is also seeking help in developing batteries for its first domestic electric vehicle, Togg.
According to Ukrinform, a high-resolution surveillance satellite was created in Turkey and launched into orbit in April.
