The galactic duo approaching their collision is located approximately 465 million light-years from Earth.
The larger galaxy (left in this image) is said to be an extremely energetic type with an active nucleus, known as a Seyfert galaxy.
The smaller galactic companion is connected to another galaxy by a thin “bridge” of dust and gas.
Arp 107 is part of a catalog of 338 galaxies known as the Atlas of Strange Galaxies, compiled by American astronomer Halton Arp in 1966.
As Ukrinform reported, the Hubble space telescope photographed the galaxy NGC 3156, located in the Sextant constellation.
