Japanese chemical company Air Water Inc. He is working on obtaining liquid biomethane from cow waste to be used as rocket fuel.
This has been reported According to Kyodo News, Ukrinform.
Hava Su A.Ş. announced that it will start testing the new fuel this autumn.
The fuel was supplied by Hokkaido island-based space startup Interstellar Technologies Inc. It will be loaded onto a rocket built by .
Interstellar Technologies will conduct tests to confirm that fuel produced from cow waste can be used for its vehicles.
Air Water is said to produce liquid biomethane in Hokkaido starting in 2021. The company ferments the slag and urine at a facility located on a dairy farm in the town of Taiki, and then transports the resulting biogas to a facility in Obihiro.
Methane is then separated from the product, cooled and converted into liquid biomethane.
Rockets need liquid fuel to produce enough energy to be launched into space.
Although high-purity methane is usually produced from liquid natural gas, the company is trying to produce methane of similar quality using biogas from waste.
As reported by Ukrinform, China It launched the world’s first methane-fueled launch vehicle into space.
