Elon Musk’s brain chip initiative Neuralink said on September 19 that it started brain implant trials for paralyzed patients.
This was reported by Reuters, Ukrinform reported.
The company has received approval from an independent panel to begin its first brain implant trial for stroke patients.
The study plans to test the safety and effectiveness of the Neuralink wireless implantable brain-computer interface to enable paralyzed people to control external electronic devices with their thoughts.
Neuralink stated that patients paralyzed due to cervical spinal cord injury or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis will participate in the trials.
On December 1, 2022, Elon Musk announced that a human chip will be tested in approximately six months. Two years ago, Musk’s company placed its technology in the head of a pig, and a little more than 19 months later, it placed it in the head of a monkey.
