At 09:55 (EEST) on 19 September, the Electron launch vehicle took off from the spaceport in New Zealand. The flight was canceled a few minutes after takeoff. This already happened after the separation of the second stage of the rocket.

The cause of the accident may have been an anomaly in the Rutherford engine equipped with the Electron’s second stage. According to telemetry data, the speed of the second stage began to decrease.
During the We Will Never Abandon You mission, the Electron launch vehicle was supposed to launch Capella Space’s Acadia satellite into orbit. It is designed for remote sensing of the Earth. As a result of the accident, the spacecraft was lost. Rocket Lab has completed 19 consecutive successful launches since May 2021.
