Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 stumbles miserably after being implemented in a Xiaomi mobile phone

He Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 aims to be the future reference SoC for high-end Android smartphones, but we’ll have to see if it ends up living up to expectations if we see the alleged performance test leaked after testing it on the unlaunched Xiaomi Redmi K70 mobile phone.

The alleged performance test of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 implemented in the Redmi K70, which was conducted with Geekbench 5 gave a score of 1100 in single-core and 5150 in multi-core. The result of the multi-core test is bad, but the result obtained on a single core can be considered cruel only when compared to the results obtained by previous generations of SoCs.

As explained in WccFetch, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 scored 1,479 points in single-core and 4,803 points in multi-core. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 has a single-core score of 1,345 as the highest and an average of 1,256, while in multi-core it scores 4,349 and 3,924, respectively. And finally, there’s the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which scored 1,246 and 1,179 in single-core and 3,855 and 3,618 in multi-core.

as we see The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 implemented in the Redmi K70 hardly improves in multi-core and degrades all the above single-core predecessorswhich is a complete disappointment if we take into account the great expectations surrounding this SoC, which will be implemented in Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series of smartphones, among others.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 results in single-core and multi-core versions.

The latest results obtained by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 are surprising for the worse, but The failure may not originate from Qualcomm, but from the implementation that Xiaomi did. We say this because it contrasts with what we published at the beginning of August, when a performance test also performed with Geekbench on the Galaxy S24 Plus showed a score of 2,233 in single core and 6,661 in multi-core.

If we give credence to the test carried out on the Galaxy S24, it should focus on Xiaomi, but there may still be room for improvement on the part of Qualcomm, if the average results do not come from the implementation that the Chinese company originally did. If this is true, it would be really worrying. as the chipmaker has an event scheduled for October 24th where it will most likely officially unveil the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. On the other hand, it is normal for the results of the same SoC to vary from one device to another due to factors such as temperatures reached, but this alleged failure is surprising to say the least.

In addition to having quite high performance expectations, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is expected to represent a significant price increase compared to previous generations. From there, a debate can be opened on whether it is necessary to put so much power and so many features into a mobile phone, especially if we see that these best features are used to carry out atrocities at the software level.
