During Intel Innovate, the chipmaker takes a look at what it will offer in the coming years. The Meteor Lake chips will be released this year, Lunar Lake will follow in 2024 and Panther Lake in 2025.

Under the appreciative eye of CEO Pat Gelsinger, a laptop was brought onto the stage for a demonstration. The computer was instructed to generate a song and did so with gusto. After the demonstration, an employee revealed that the laptop runs on a processor that hasn’t hit the market yet: Lunar Lake, or the fifteenth generation of Intel Core (Ultra) CPUs.

This makes Lunar Lake the successor to Meteor Lake, which was also announced during Intel Innovate. It is still far too early to talk about the specifications and performance of Lunar Lake, but we can already predict that the processor will be built in the same way as Meteor Lake. Intel 18A

If Intel follows its own schedule, which isn’t always a guarantee with the company, then Lunar Lake could be the first to have a chip baked using the 18A process. The chip will only have 1.8 nm wafers, which should make Lunar Lake even more powerful and energy efficient. Intel 3 (3 nm) and Intel 20A (2 nm) also follow, so the chip manufacturer sees great prospects for the coming year.

Lunar Lake should be ready for series production by the end of 2024. Since Tuesday we also know the name of the sixteenth generation of Intel Core Ultra for 2025: Panther Lake. During Intel Innovate, the chip giant makes it clear that it wants to become number one in chip country again. In addition to new chips, it also gives us an insight into how they will be manufactured in the future.
