An unwelcome jump in power
Just because the Redmi Note 12 falls short in terms of specifications does not mean that it is adequate and more than enough to provide a good experience with Android for the whole family. Even so, it doesn’t hurt that a new iteration means a real jump in performance: Redmi Note 13 launches new processors becoming a better choice for those who want the best value for their money.
The leap forward on paper is remarkable: from basic mobile phone to Pro+. Improved performance, lower energy consumption on paper and MediaTek’s most powerful with the new Qualcomm processor for the high-end: Snapdragon 7S Gen 2.
For Redmi Note 13, especially in the Pro, the same screen diagonal for all six models with a noticeable increase in maximum brightness: Xiaomi doubled the highest level of vinegar in these models. And an interesting detail: Redmi Note 13 Pro+ has the first curved AMOLED panel in the family. It is getting deeper and deeper in the high-end Redmi.
The new models feature more RAM, up to 512GB on the Pro and no major changes to the battery, fast charging, a headphone jack, dual stereo speakers and an infrared emitter on all.
Xiaomi has improved the design of Redmi Note 13 to bring it closer to the top level. More stylized lines, curves everywhere, glass covers on the back and rear Vegan leather details for the most exclusive Pro.
200 megapixels stand out in Redmi Note 13
The cameras of the Redmi Note 12 left us with very good emotions during our analysis: although the manual is middle class, Xiaomi has managed to get significantly closer to top-end photo performance. And with the Redmi Note 13, the ante is upped in raw numbers; It always expects us to check what the real performance is in the analysis.
The triple camera combination is preserved in the compared models, except for the Redmi Note 13 5G, which loses the wide angle. Pro adopts 200 megapixel ISOCELL HP3 sensor, was available on last year’s Redmi Note 12 Pro+. Both top models retain OIS mechanical stabilization on the main sensor.
Xiaomi stepped up its bet last year to complete an already very good family. And with prices aiming to remain the same, at least in terms of the version in China: since we don’t know when they will arrive in Europe, which we don’t expect until 2024, the new Redmi Note 13 looks really good.
