As reported by Ukrinform, BBC.
In August, the lander of the Chandrayaan-3 mission carrying the Pragyan lunar rover touched down near the Moon’s little-explored south pole.
After two weeks of data and image collection, “Pragyan” was put into “sleep mode” with the onset of a moonlit night.
ISPRO hoped that the rover’s batteries would be recharged and the modules would enter active mode again at sunrise on September 22. The message states that it is possible that the severe cold of the moonlit night could damage the batteries and, as a result, communication with “Pragyan” would be interrupted.
The Indian Space Research Organization said: social networks H“Efforts to restore communications with the Vikram lander and the Pragyan rover will continue.”
As Ukrinform reported, on August 23, India became the fourth country to successfully land the Chandrayaan-3 mission on the Moon.
