SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket was launched for a record 17th time on Saturday night, September 23. Falcon 9, carrying 22 Starlink Internet satellites, lifted off from the Space Force Station in Cape Canaveral, Florida, at 23:38 ET on Saturday (03:38 GMT, September 24).

The rocket’s first stage returned to Earth as planned and landed on the SpaceX unmanned vehicle at sea approximately 8.5 minutes after launch. According to SpaceX’s mission statement, this was the 17th takeoff and landing of the Falcon 9’s first stage, tying the company’s reuse record set by another Falcon 9 on another Starlink launch just four days earlier.

Meanwhile, 22 Starlink satellites were deployed approximately 65 minutes after launch from the Falcon 9’s upper unit.

Starlink is SpaceX’s mega internet constellation that provides services to customers around the world.

Starlink currently consists of more than 4,750 operational satellites, and this number will continue to increase in the future. SpaceX has approval to launch 12,000 broadband vehicles and has applied for approval for 30,000 more.
