Forrester expects AI to have a major impact on large enterprises in the next year. Above all, the technology is intended to accelerate software development and give employees time to concentrate on more complex and creative tasks.
According to Forrester, the AI hype train will really take off next year. The company’s analysts expect the technology to have a noticeable impact on large companies as early as 2024. Forrester primarily looks at efficiency and effectiveness. Because there, great progress can be achieved quickly with AI solutions.
Software development in particular would be faster. AI can create simple code on demand and actually does it quite well. As a result, new software would be ready up to forty percent faster. IT experts will have no problems finding useful tasks for the freed up time. By successfully completing simple tasks using AI, there is room for more innovative collaboration and greater responsiveness to business strategy.
AI for everyone
Other industries can also benefit from AI implementations. Forrester believes AI will free up employees’ time to focus on more complex creative tasks where their knowledge adds real value. Professional AI like Microsoft 365 Copilot will help make company data quickly findable, but also support employees in processing it. Being able to assess the current status of a project with a single question to the AI, rather than an entire afternoon sifting through emails, chats, and documents, leaves plenty of time to think about next steps.
It is unclear to what extent the benefits of AI will soon come to us. It is not so obvious to apply AI to sensitive data, which in Europe is not all available in English either. Still, it seems that generative AI models can add value in many cases, if only to help a salesperson compose an email more smoothly.
