“By 2030, Nissan will switch to fully electric vehicles in Europe; we believe this is the right thing for our business, our customers and our planet,” said Makoto Uchida, the company’s CEO.
The company said one of the two new car models currently accepted for sale in European countries will be produced at its Sunderland factory in northern England.
Previously, Nissan announced that it plans to electrify 98% of cars sold in Europe by fiscal 2026. These plans included fully electric models, hybrids with powerful batteries and cars with internal combustion engines. The company’s new goal is to switch to fully electric transportation in Europe by 2030.
As reported by Ukrinform, on September 19, Volvo Cars announced that it will cease production of all current diesel models from the beginning of 2024 as part of a full transition to electric vehicles.
