This Thursday (31), the day before Fool’s DayApril 1 (today), and International Fact Check DayApril 2, Mr. Google listed some of his tools for combating misinformation online. The search giant has published a series of four tips for evaluating information right in the search on its site. Initially, the company must make these resources available worldwide for surveys in English only. Check out the materials provided by the company below.

Notification in search results

From the very beginning Google already informs the user when the results of a particular search are rapidly changing. The company places a notice, now available in more than 20 different languages, at the top of the results and advises the user to wait for some time until other news sources publish news on a topic that is being talked about a lot.

For research carried out in English in the United States, the company presents a novelty. Notifications now also remind people to check the reliability of lighting from certain sources. There is also a resource page with tips for evaluating information.

Frequently quoted news

Sometimes, when there is a sensation or very current news, several different vehicles will usually link to the original article from which the first information was obtained. To highlight a source often cited by various vehicles, Google will highlight it right on the first page of search results.

The company will tag original content with the “Top Stories” tag. According to a company post, the feature is already available on mobile devices in the US and will be rolling out to other countries soon.

Fact Checker Researcher

Fact Check Explorer is a separate tool Google which allows users to search by topics or people and as a result provides information collected by important vehicles and inspection agencies around the world. According to the company, the tool already brings together more than 150 thousand fact checks.

“About this result”

This feature is available directly in the search results on Google. By finding a new result and selecting the three dots in the top right corner, the user will be able to access the tab “Additional information at the link to this page”.

In this tab, you can find a description of the vehicle itself; find out what other online sources have already said about a particular site; and have access to more context, including top stories on the topic.
