The collaboration aims to strengthen the 5G ecosystem and accelerate the deployment of private 5G on digital devices.
NTT and Qualcomm will prioritize the development of 5G devices in the coming years. According to both parties, it is important to strengthen private 5G by companies. Analyst firm IDC estimates that the private 5G market will reach over $8 billion by 2026
“Qualcomm Technologies’ 5G chipsets are prepared for the widespread deployment of AI applications at the edge of the network,” NTT said. Both will work together to deliver 5G-ready devices.
These devices have built-in AI models to improve AI at the edge of the network through various applications such as image recognition. This includes functions such as counting objects and identifying object properties to identifying employees wearing protective masks or helmets (PPE).
As part of NTT’s Edge as a Service offering, NTT now offers Device as a Service management services. This enables customers to easily deploy, update and repurpose 5G and edge devices, simplifying device lifecycle management and reducing IT maintenance and costs.
