The National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting, together with relevant departments, is actively working on the issue of regulating Telegram, which Russians and media currently banned in Ukraine actively use to spread their narratives.

Olha Gerasimyuk, head of the National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting, said this during a public discussion on Ukrinform on the prevention of hate speech and discrimination in the media on ethnic, national and religious grounds.

“They will no longer be able to make us laugh with their Google translations from Ukrainian. They have learned to communicate with good, special words. It is very difficult for people to distinguish them among truly pro-Ukrainian channels. This is a separate issue that we are fighting with the Ministry of Digital Transformation and others,” Gerasimyuk said.

According to him, media that were blocked for their pro-Russian activities are now actively working on this platform. “It has bloomed right there on Telegram. Telegram is indeed a very difficult issue that we, as the National Council, work on every day. Now this phenomenon has spread so much that the further it goes, the more difficult it will be to work with it. And the enemy is very much with it.” It works successfully,” Gerasimyuk said.

As reported, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy stated that they consider it necessary to regulate the Telegram messenger in Ukraine.
