Zotac is one of the great mini-PC specialists and keeps releasing new models. The latest ZBOX Edges are included high-endbased on a compact chassis measuring 149.5 x 149.5 x 28.5 mm, but not without power thanks to Intel’s Raptor Lake processors.

Zotac says the computer does “very quiet”, although it does include an active fan and the noise level will likely vary depending on the tasks it is used for. Honeycomb-shaped vents covering the top and sides of the chassis help dissipate heat.

The new ZBOX Edge has two DDR5 compatible SODIMM slots (64GB 5200MHz or 4800MHz) and dual M.2 slots for storage, one is a PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD compatible M.2 2280 slot, while the other is a PCIe 3.0 M. 2 2242 for SATA SSDs. These components are easily upgradeable just remove the top cover.

Very good in connectivity considering its compact dimensions:

  • WiFi 6
  • Bluetooth 5.2
  • 1 HDMI 2.0
  • 1 DisplayPort 1.4 port
  • 1 x Thunderbolt 4 (with DisplayPort alternate mode)
  • 3x USB 3.1 type A
  • 1 USB 3.1 Type C
  • 2 Gigabit Ethernet
  • 1 3.5mm audio

ZBOX Edge version

Zotac sells its new compact computers in two versions depending on the processor:

  • MI668: Intel Core i7-1360P with 12 cores (4 performance) and 16 threads, with a maximum frequency of 5 GHz, 18 MB cache and a TDP of 28 watts.
  • MI648: Intel Core i5-1340P with 12 cores (4 performance) and 16 threads, with a maximum frequency of 4.6 GHz, 12 MB cache and a TDP of 28 watts.

We assume that the manufacturer will sell its new solutions in configurations with different memory and storage capacities, as well as formats bare bones where the user inserts his own components and chooses an operating system between Windows and Linux. Of course, their small size allows them to be installed anywhere, on a table, behind a monitor or hung on the wall.

Mini-PCs continue to be the only group that continues to grow among desktop computers, and it is no wonder that the models are as attractive as those from Zotac.
