The Turkish-designed and produced Bayraktar TB3 attack drone, which is claimed to be the world’s first UAV capable of taking off and landing on ships with short runways, will make its first flight soon.
According to the news of Ukrinform, this situation was stated by Selçuk Bayraktar, the chairman and technical director of Baykar company.
“We will make the first flight of Bayraktar TB3 right after TEKNOFEST (in Izmir, 27 September – 1 October). Selçuk Bayraktar said, “This will be the first UAV to land and take off on a ship.”
Bayraktar also emphasized that TB3 will be the world’s first UAV deployed on short-runway ships.
According to the president of the Baykar company, after it was announced that a combat drone development project that can take off and land on short-runway ships would be developed in Turkey, it was announced that similar projects would be worked on in the USA and Israel.
The Bayraktar TB3 drone is currently preparing for its first flight at Baykar’s base in the Çorlu district of Tekardağ province in northwestern Turkey.
According to Ukrinform’s report, Turkey put a new flagship, the TCG Anatolian amphibious assault ship, into service in April this year; this was the first military ship in the world designed for the deployment and use of attack UAVs. Baykar Makina developed the Bayraktar TB3 combat UAV to deploy unmanned aerial vehicles at the TCG Anadolu base.
