Google’s main dates from the last 25 years

During its glorious journey, Google has gone through significant transformations and introduced a number of revolutionary products and features. Here are some of the highlights of the last twenty-five years:

2001: Google Images and “What You Mean”. In 2001, Google introduced Google Images, which allowed users to search for images. The company also introduced a “Did you mean” feature that helps users correct spelling errors and refine searches.

2006: Google Translate. Google broke down language barriers with the launch of Google Translate in 2006. Initially limited to Arabic and English, the tool was later expanded to support more than 100 languages, facilitating seamless communication around the world.

2008: Mobile app and Google Voice. In 2008, Google expanded its presence in the market by releasing a mobile application for the iPhone with features such as autocomplete and “my location”. With the launch of Google Voice in the same year, users got the ability to voice search and India became a hotspot for this feature.

2017: Google Lens. Google demonstrated its machine learning prowess with the introduction of Google Lens. This innovative technology can recognize objects and transform them into search queries. Today, Google Lens processes more than 12 billion image searches every month.

2020: Sing to Call. Google reached music lovers around the world by launching the Sing to Search feature in 2020. This feature allows users to hum or whistle a tune. The algorithm uses machine learning to identify songs.

2023: Implementation of language models. This year, Google has focused on creating productive experiences based on artificial intelligence. Google Bard, along with language models (LLMs) such as PaLM 2 and the upcoming Gemini, demonstrates Google’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence.
