Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Wednesday unveiled the next generation of Ray-Ban smart glasses that can broadcast directly to Facebook and Instagram.

This was reported by Reuters, Ukrinform reported.

Zuckerberg said Meta’s next-generation Ray-Ban (ESLX.PA) smart glasses will go on sale on October 17 for $299.

The device will be equipped with the new Meta AI assistant and will be able to broadcast what the user sees live directly to Facebook and Instagram. This is an improvement over previous generations of glasses that could take photos.

Zuckerberg also unveiled the company’s first generative AI products, including a Meta AI chatbot that can generate both text responses and photorealistic images.

Meta Artificial intelligence will also be built into glasses as an assistant, starting in the beta phase in the United States. A software update planned for next year will give the assistant the ability to perform language translation as well as identify places and objects that people see.

Meta created the assistant called Meta AI using its own model based on the Llama 2 language model. According to Zuckerberg, the chatbot will be able to access real-time information thanks to the partnership with Microsoft’s Bing search engine.

He said the company is also building a platform that developers and ordinary people can use to create their own AI bots, which will have Instagram and Facebook profiles and eventually appear as avatars in the metaspace.

As reported by Ukrinform, the company OpenAI announced the launch of a new function that will allow the ChatGPT artificial intelligence application to answer voice questions and user commands with five different voices.
