The young French company Mistral AI has published its first LLM: 7B. This model is completely open source and therefore free to use for anyone.
A breath of fresh air
7B was launched under the Apache 2.0 license, so there are no restrictions on use or rework. In other words, anyone can get started with it, from enthusiasts to large companies.
The model can be easily used in any cloud environment or with a gaming GPU. According to Mistral AI, 7B has natural encryption capabilities and a sequence length of 8KB. You can now also find the model on GitHub.
Mistral AI also claims that the model performs better than Meta’s Llama 2, Llama’s successor. This claim is supported by a number of benchmark comparisons:
