Google launches ChromeOS version 117. The operating system for Chromebooks has some important new features, including a new design philosophy.
Google is giving ChromeOS version 117 a new look. The latest version of the operating system for Chromebooks follows suit MaterialYou-Design language. This new style is the same as Android 12 and was first introduced in 2021.
Changed settings
Users will primarily notice the changes in the quick settings menu. There you will find more visible and readable buttons for turning on and off settings such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The buttons were previously rather small. Additionally, dark mode can be quickly turned on and off and the shutdown or restart settings have been advanced.
The Calendar toolbar widget gets an upgrade and allows you to join video conferences. New icons make it easier to see whether the camera and microphone are on.
Saves the battery
Google provides supported devices Adaptive charging. This is a mode in which you can set your device so that it only charges up to 80 percent until shortly before it is unplugged, after which the final spurt up to 100 percent occurs. An intelligent algorithm helps with timing. Li-ion batteries wear out fastest when their charge is above 80 percent or below 20 percent. Therefore, this mode helps in keeping the battery in shape.
Google is currently rolling out ChromeOS 117 to the general public via the Stable-Channel.
