The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced that the 60th flight of the Ingenuity helicopter to Mars was successfully completed.
In this respect social networks H Ukrinform reported the report from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).
“Ingenuity completed its 60th flight. JPL broke the runway speed record by reaching 8 meters per second,” he said.
It was recorded that the Mars helicopter covered 340 meters in 133 seconds.
In the previous flight, Ingenuity broke another record by rising to an altitude of 20 meters.
As Ukrinform reported, the Ingenuity helicopter was delivered to the Red Planet along with NASA’s Perseverance rover on February 18, 2021, after almost seven months of flight. Ingenuity made its first flight on April 19. The $85 million helicopter became the first aircraft launched to another planet.
