The day long awaited by many has finally arrived, Counter-Strike 2 has already been released in its final version, giving a long-awaited relief to the already veteran Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which celebrated 11 years since its arrival on the market last August. As you may recall, last March Valve registered several trademarks related to the title, which created a tsunami of rumors. And what did Gabe Newell’s team do? Well, put an end to the rumors… by officially confirming said information and announcing that the game will arrive during the summer of 2023. And while it’s actually been a week since we officially kicked off fall, seven days is a reasonable margin to give them the nod (yes, scratch) in of this sense.

When this announcement was made, we went to the trouble of trying to figure out approximately and until the official ones are published what the technical requirements of Counter-Strike 2 that we have published here will be and which, As you will see below, they were quite matchedand what Valve has shown and said about its future launch has already given us some clues as to where the shots will go (never better, in a game like CS).

Now that the game is already available in its final version for all players, and of course with the technical requirements of Counter-Strike 2 specified by Valve on its Steam page, we will check them to confirm what we already expected.

Counter-Strike 2 Requirements – Windows
  • Processor: 4-thread CPU – Intel Core i5 750 or higher.
  • FRAME: 8 gigabytes
  • Grafic card: 1 gigabyte of RAM, compatible with DirectX 11 and Shader Model 5.0
  • Storage space: 85 gigabytes
  • OS: Windows 10
Counter-Strike 2 Requirements – SteamOS + Linux
  • Processor: 4-thread CPU – Intel Core i5 750 or higher.
  • FRAME: 8 gigabytes
  • Grafic card: AMD GCN+ or NVIDIA Kepler+ with updated Vulkan drivers. Support for VK_EXT_graphics_pipeline_library is recommended.
  • Storage space: 85 gigabytes
  • OS:Ubuntu 20.04

An interesting aspect is that, unlike what is common with Steam listings, Valve has not released minimums and recommendations, so we can understand that the ones that have been published are closer to the basics than optimal, and that therefore this configuration will be somewhat insufficient if we want to play it in 1080P. In the requirements preview I linked a bit above, you’ll find our recommendations if you want to play at this resolution and have a satisfying experience.

NVIDIA Reflex optimizes latency by up to 35%

NIVIDIA posted shortly after the announcement that Counter-Strike 2 would be compatible with Reflexbrand technology that allows us to significantly reduce the latency in game responses to our actions, and that with the NVIDIA Reflex Analyzer we can measure very precisely, which in turn will allow us to make appropriate adjustments to further improve performance if necessary. In this respect.

Latency is crucial in any type of game where response speed is a determining factor, and it increases exponentially when we talk about multiplayer titles over the Internet, in a context where lag can be our main rival. in this context reduce by 35% it can (and will) make a big difference. As you can see in the chart above, the entire GeForce RTX 40 lineup delivers latencies of 15 milliseconds or less, which drops to just five milliseconds for the RTX 4090, which is complemented by frame rates more than remarkable throughout.
