“I’m in Eagle Pass, I just got there. We’re going to talk to senior officials and law enforcement to get an idea of what’s going on and get the real story. It’s real time, without filters or preconditions. What you see is what I see,” the tycoon began his live broadcast.
Musk, owner of a vast empire that includes Tesla and Twitter, said that as a migrant – having been born in South Africa – he supports migration, but he rejected the idea that people should enter the United States illegally.
“As a migrant to the US, I am very pro-migration. I think that we need a very comprehensive legal immigration system and that we should allow any hardworking and honest citizen of the country to contribute to the United States.
“We must have expedited legal approval for everyone who falls into this category. But just the same We must not allow entry of people who break the law.. It is pointless. The law is there for a reason,” he said, dressed in a black T-shirt, black cowboy hat and aviator sunglasses.
And he added: “So I think we want to do two things: mitigate legal migration and then stop the flow of people, because the scale of this is overwhelming social services to the point that the largest city in the United States of America, New York, is drowning under pressure from the number of illegal migrants arriving.
“If New York can’t handle this, then virtually no part of the country can. So if we don’t do something soon, we’re going to see a collapse of social services like we’re already seeing in New York.”
