Lawmaker criticizes AMLO’s stance on fentanyl and ‘cuts’ purse by  million

The U.S. House of Representatives approved an amendment that would cut off $60 million in anti-fentanyl funding to Mexico, arguing that our country has “failed to stop the production and trafficking of fentanyl.”

The motion voted on by voice vote was introduced by Republican Alex Mooney, who accused President Andrés Manuel López Obrador of making a “patently false” statement that Mexico does not produce fentanyl.

Republican says Mexico should not be awarded economic relief funds when refuses to stop fentanyl production it resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans.

Mooney said his state, West Virginia, has been hit hard by the drug epidemic. He stated that “much of the poison on our streets is linked directly to the Mexican drug cartels.”

Our practice of giving them more American taxpayer dollars as an incentive to fight drug trafficking has failed. It is time to cut off economic funding until the President of the United States can tell Congress that Mexico is working with us to address the free flow of fentanyl across the border.

Voting was done by voice; a procedure that requires recording not the total number of positions for or against, but only the majority speaking on any issue.
