Our readers speak: what was your first smartphone?

A few days ago, the 15th anniversary of the first Android smartphone was celebrated, the operating system that became most used in the mobile sectorAlthough, as our regular readers already know, iOS is a worthy competitor and has nothing to envy either at the level of the ecosystem (apps and games) or at the level of revenue, in fact it is one of the main pillars of Apple.

The fact is that when I read the article of my colleague Juan I couldn’t help but remember my first smartphoneand the joys and disappointments it gave me. The truth is, I really enjoyed that burst of nostalgia, which is why I wanted to share it today and May you do the same with me and other readers.who tells us in the comments what your first smartphone was like and what memories you have of it.

In my case, it was my first smartphone Galaxy SL, a terminal that was a cheap version of the first Samsung Galaxy S and that I got thanks to portability on Movistar. I didn’t have to pay anything for it, although with how expensive the rate was, it was almost like being charged in installments. The truth is that since then it has been a relatively modest terminal in every sense It had an SC-LCD panel and not the AMOLED type like the Galaxy S, although at least the screen resolution was the same, 800 x 480 pixels.

Its SoC was also inferior. I drove a Those OMAP 3630 which integrated a 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 CPU and had a PowerVR SGX530 GPU. The Galaxy S had a chip Hummingbird which also had a 1 GHz Cortex-A8 CPU, but its GPU was a PowerVR SGX540. There were also differences in RAM and storage, as my first smartphone had 478MB of RAM and 4GB of storage, while the Galaxy S had 512MB of RAM and 8GB of storage.

The truth is like this At first it made me very happyespecially for the possibilities its camera opened up for me at the time, and for its acceptable performance in web browsing and basic games, although it ended quickly and eventually I became disillusioned with Android due to the optimization issue and lack of support, what it did to me jump straight to iPhone 4s, which was my second smartphone.

Although this terminal was my second smartphone, the truth is that the iPhone 4s was the first that made me feel that I was really looking at a good product. I was not disappointed at all, apart from the understandable loss of performance with the latest iOS versions it received, and the improvement I experienced compared to the Galaxy SL was so huge that I remember it as one of the best smartphones I’ve ever owned. Now it’s your turn We read each other in the comments.
