“Witch rings” (VC) are mysterious natural formations that are circular areas of bare earth surrounded by rings of vegetation. On the ground surface where plants do not grow, their diameters vary from a few meters to tens of meters.

The emergence of witch circles is puzzling scientists, and there are several hypotheses that attempt to explain their origin:

fungal hypothesis

According to one popular theory, VC can be formed under the influence of certain types of fungi. These fungi can form rings and destroy the vegetation inside them.

Hypothesis of geomagnetic fields

Another hypothesis claims that geomagnetic fields may play a role in VC formation. However, the mechanism by which this occurs is not fully understood. Researchers also found that VCs are common in different parts of the world, including Africa, Australia and South America. They can also temporarily disappear and reappear, making them even more mysterious.

Recent studies by Spanish scientists have identified some environmental factors affecting the spread of VC. They are mostly found in areas where soil nitrogen content is low and rainfall is low, making it difficult for plants to compete for water and nutrients.
