The “You” section currently sits at the top of the app and uses your avatar as the icon. Here you can find various service menus such as subscription information, your data, help, settings, anonymous mode, statistics and switch to other services (YouTube Music, YouTube Kids and others).

In the new design option, most of these points disappear and only the basic elements remain. However, all elements of the Library have been transferred here. In fact, all of these menus (History, Playlists, Downloads, Favorites, and Watchlist) remain in place but will now be presented in a new unified section.

Interestingly, the account picture is in the same top position in all Google applications; Therefore, YouTube’s redesign breaks this consistency, making the service similar to Instagram and other social media applications. But there is nothing surprising in this, because YouTube has never followed the design principles characteristic of the company’s other services.

So far the company has been testing the update quite selectively. It is not yet clear when it will be available to all users.
