Anatel has just approved a new Starlink router in Brazil. The device, approved under the number 06361-22-13890, can now be sold in Brazil to allow users to connect to the Internet via the SpaceX satellite. Currently, Starlink is already available in 32 countries, including Brazil, but the Internet still does not cover all regions of the country.

Check which countries Starlink is available in

Router model approval UTR-211 took place last Wednesday (11) and can be checked on the Anatel website under registration number 06361-22-13890. The router is identified under the brand name Starlink Router, manufactured in Taiwan. Other specs point to Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac and 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies. The Internet should provide speeds from 150 to 500 Mbps with a relatively low latency of 20 to 40 ms.

Starlink is available in Brazil, but only in some states.

Starlink is now available in 32 countries including Brazil and we here at Mundo Conectado already bought the Internet a while back when it was announced. Unfortunately, Starlink coverage does not yet cover all regions of Brazil. Through image below, you can check that Starlink only has coverage in the southern and southeastern regions of Brazil. Covers most of the states of Santa Catarina, Parana, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and a small part of Minas Gerais. Other demarcated areas in the southern and southeastern regions should receive coverage soon, between the end of 2022 or the first quarter of 2023.

Another important detail is the installation costs and the monthly internet fee. Equipment sold through BRL 3,000, plus BRL 365 processing fee and a monthly maintenance fee of BRL 530. (prices without taxes)

Despite the high prices, one of Starlink’s big promises is to provide fast internet connectivity in hard-to-reach places. At present, service availability is still very concentrated in some of Brazil’s largest metropolitan areas, and it will take us some time to have satellite internet available in all Brazilian states.
