Boeing plans to increase production of its most popular Boeing 737 aircraft to a record number of at least 57 units per month by July 2025. As reported
As reported by Ukrinform, this was reported by Reuters with reference to knowledgeable sources.
The plan is to reach production of up to 42 Boeing 737 aircraft per month by December this year. In June 2024, monthly production of Boeing 737 and Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, as well as previous models used for military purposes, is expected to be up to 47 units, and in June of the same year – up to 50 units. The company will produce up to 57 aircraft per month by 2025.
Boeing laid out its production plan in the latest version of its master program for suppliers, which was reapproved by the planemaker in mid-September, the sources said.
The company declined to comment.
“This target will replace the missed target set by the aircraft manufacturer several years ago, which was derailed when production of the 737 MAX was halted worldwide following two fatal crashes in 2019,” the report said.
Before Boeing 737 MAX production was halted, the company was producing 52 aircraft per month and was aiming to reach 57.
The company’s official target, currently announced in November 2022, is to produce 50 aircraft per month between 2025 and 2026.
However, Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun said increasing volumes to 60 aircraft per month could be discussed.
“I want to reach 60 deliveries and there is a market for that. There is no doubt about that,” he stated in the company’s July profit and loss report.
In March 2019, a plane flying from Addis Ababa to Nairobi reportedly crashed minutes after takeoff. All passengers and crew of the plane died.
The incident led Ethiopia’s flagship carrier and many other airlines around the world to ground the Boeing 737 MAX and conduct a full inspection of all of the manufacturer’s systems.
The plane of the same model crashed in Indonesia in October 2018. 189 people subsequently died.
The first flight of this ship after the tragic incident took place in February 2022.
