Since the beginning of this year, cyber experts of the Security Service of Ukraine have neutralized nearly four thousand cyber attacks by Russian hackers on electronic systems of central authorities and critical infrastructure.

According to Ukrinform, this situation was reported by the SBU.

To strengthen the protective potential of state automated systems against Russian cyber-attacks in wartime, the cyber department of the Ukrainian special service organized a practical seminar for employees responsible for information security of state institutions and strategic objects of Ukraine.

More than 70 representatives from various departments attended the event.

During the seminar, SBU employees provided training on improving Ukraine’s cyber security. Experts also shared best practices for combating cyber threats, especially regarding the use of information security event management systems (SIEM), end device protection (EDR), and mail services.

According to the SBU, the majority of hostile cyber attacks are aimed at finding unauthorized access to the electronic document flow and technological infrastructure systems of state institutions.

Such “entry points” for Russian hackers are often public services, primarily email.

Seminar participants worked on joint action algorithms to respond to relevant cyber attacks and minimize their negative consequences.

To strengthen inter-ministerial cooperation, the SBU connected the electronic systems of more than 1,700 representatives of government structures and strategically important objects to the MISP-UA platform for the exchange of information on discovered cyber incidents.

As reported by Ukrinform, Russian spies are using hackers to conduct cyberattacks on Ukrainian law enforcement computer systems and detect and obtain evidence of alleged Russian war crimes, according to the State Intelligence Service.
