Zoom was one of the applications that saw tremendous growth during the pandemic. Many have never even heard of it and From the night, were using their services to continue attending classes or business meetings amid the quarantine. But our reality is no longer like that.

Although video calls remain important in the wake of the health emergency, Zoom quickly realized there needed to be more of them. The company started designing a broader service plan about two years ago, and now we’re starting to see results. Part of this passion is called Zoom Docs.

Alternative to Zoom and Google Docs

When it comes to working with documents, we usually think of two applications: Microsoft Word and Google Docs. If we add the need collaborate in real time For other users, our preference will probably be more towards the second one. Zoom also asks us to think about this issue, albeit in a different way.

The video calling company this Tuesday announced Zoom Docs, a workspace integrated with Zoom, where almost all of us know working with documents, managing projects, creating spreadsheets, wikis, and other elements. As we can see, it is not a standalone application, but it does not aim to be either.

As the company explains, Zoom Docs’ goal is to provide an ideal solution for a world dominated by hybrid work. The idea is that multiple users can work on it. different projects at the same time when joining a Zoom video call, for example, all with AI-powered enhancements.

Zoom Documents in Meeting Collaboration

The presence of generative AI on Zoom is not entirely new. We had Zoom IQ, which allowed us to extract summaries of video calls and chats. Now under the name Zoom AI Companion, this solution integrates with Zoom Docs to complement content in different types of documents.

For example, unlike what we see in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Zoom content blocks. This means you won’t need to open a specific application to work with a table or text document. They also promise that it will be possible to create a visual tree with all common pages.

The proposal looks interesting, but there are still some questions about how it works. For example, how will it integrate with third-party applications and what if we want to export documents for editing from another platform? Zoom Docs will be released in 2024.
