Advances in autonomous driving are constant in the motoring world and Ford is of course no exception in this respect. It is true that when we talk about advances in this sense, it is not usually one of the most frequently mentioned brands, but this may be very close to change, because soon, very soon, we will be able to try Ford first-hand BlueCruise, the company’s hands- free for autonomous driving.
The reason for this change is that Ford already has the approval and therefore the necessary permissions to start offering the Ford BlueCruise service in Spain, a deployment that will begin on October 12. According to the company’s information, they are the first to receive authorization of this type here, which is also the third in Europe where it will be able to start offering it, after only Germany and the United Kingdom, as well as in the United States and a small part of Canada.
Unlike other services of this type, which aim to work in any type of environment, Ford’s approach is much more conservative, which is why we can understand that it is reliable. Put it into service on motorways and motorways (which are the types of roads it can be used on), The company created so-called blue zones, sections of both types of roads in which the driver will be able to take his hands off the steering wheel and feet off the pedals, leaving the car in charge of the operation.
Although Ford BlueCruise allows you to delegate driving in the vehicle, lor it does so by promoting active circulation observation. Vehicles compatible with the service thus integrate a camera-based monitoring system that verifies that the driver’s attention remains on the road, so that he is able to react if there is an accident on it or if the system detects some type of failure, something that seems highly unlikely ( or it wouldn’t be approved) but not impossible.
Ford BlueCruise is offered as a service with a monthly fee of €24.99 per monthand his debut in Spain will take place with Ford Mustang Mach-E which are on sale with us from October 12, 2023. However, these buyers will get three months of BlueCruise for free.
In the United States and Canada, the service is compatible with several vehicles in addition to the Mustang Mach-E, namely the F-150 pickup, F-150 Lightning, and Expedition SUV. It can therefore be expected that in the medium term we will see an increase in both compatible models and, of course, road sections on which we will be able to use this service.
