Zoom’s AI assistant is getting a number of upgrades, which was confirmed at its own Zoomtopia conference, which is currently in full swing. Some things have already been announced before and are now considered certainties, such as integration with Zoom whiteboards.

Companion, the successor to Zoom IQ, was recently introduced and already has numerous upgrades. Some of these things were mentioned at launch, including the close connection between the AI ​​virtual assistant and Zoom whiteboards.

With the new features for Whitebard, the number of integrated applications for Companion is now seven. More are planned in the near future, Zoom confirms. These seven are:

• Whiteboard – here Zoom Companion can particularly help users to generate ideas and organize them into categories
• Meet – Users can view recordings more quickly through main points and short chapters, review summaries, and get suggestions for future steps
• Side wall in the meeting – Discreetly ask your companion questions during a meeting, even if you call them later, without interrupting the flow of conversation in meetings
• Automatic summary – After a call in meetings, automatically receive a quick summary that you can share with those who were there and who missed the meeting
• Team chat – here Companion can quickly suggest and generate messages based on chat conversations and adjust both the length and tone of your replies
• Team chat summaries – If you missed an entire conversation in a chat, you don’t have to scroll and read everything, Companion creates a summary of what you missed
• post – Receive suggestions that Companion can make for composing emails

Companion’s aggregation capabilities have now been expanded to customers in several new industries: healthcare and education.

In the future, the AI ​​assistant will also be able to recognize the intention of a meeting and immediately make a suggestion for making an appointment. In chats, Zoom Companion makes suggestions to complete sentences and answers even easier. Meeting summaries can also be added to Zoom Notes.

For more complex chats, Companion summarizes the content of a text even better, breaks it down and immediately makes suggestions for an answer. You’ll soon be able to generate images and create whiteboard templates from whiteboard content.

During Zoom events, Companion helps set up chats to make suggestions and facilitate discussions in the virtual lobby. With Zoom Phone, Companion will also be able to create summaries of text messages and phone calls.

Zoom emphasizes that all of its customers’ communications on the platform are not used to train its own generative AI or third-party models. Companion availability may depend on your region and industry.
