Samsung is committed to bringing modern AAA gaming to Galaxy phones

Samsung continues to expand its product and service range. In this way, the company appeals to a wide user base and ensures its sustainability even if things go wrong in a certain sector. For example, the South Korean technology giant recently introduced its new 49-inch G93SC 240Hz curved OLED monitor. However, the company’s future plans are not limited to this. Reports suggest that Samsung will take its game streaming service out of beta this week.

Samsung will launch cloud gaming service for Galaxy phones this week

If you want to play modern AAA games, the solution is quite simple. Prepare your budget and buy a console or PC and play the game you want at high settings and enjoy your hobby. However, it can be quite expensive and you may have a hard time affording it. So what’s the alternative? The answer is cloud gaming.

Cloud gaming or game streaming allows users to play video games hosted on remote servers and stream them directly to devices such as a television, phone or computer. This means you don’t need to download or install games on your device, and you can play them even if your device isn’t equipped to run them on its own.

Although this method is still in its infancy, it is gradually gaining popularity. Services such as Nvidia GeForce Now, Amazon Luna and Microsoft XCloud are increasingly used by users with limited budgets. For example, even though I did not have gaming hardware during the pandemic period, I was able to play high-end graphics games such as Witcher 3 using GeForce Now on my 2010 model laptop.

Now, Samsung is reportedly planning to officially introduce cloud gaming to the Samsung Game Launcher on Galaxy phones at its developer conference on October 5. Although smartphone performance improves with almost every new model, mobile games today are still mostly relatively “basic” and require low-quality graphics. However, gamers want to see PC/console quality games on their $1000 devices.

Given the current business model and revenue strategies, developing modern games for just a few high-end devices is impractical. This is where Samsung’s cloud gaming service comes to the rescue. The company is trying to bridge the gap by providing a way to play these modern games while making its product more attractive. Samsung has been experimenting with cloud gaming on Galaxy phones for a while now.

They are also reportedly in talks with major game publishers to feature their games on the platform. Additionally, Samsung said they will charge a lower maintenance fee than other cloud gaming providers, potentially making it more attractive to game developers.

Unfortunately, we don’t have much information about the upcoming service other than what we just mentioned. But a warning to all Galaxy phone users: Entering the cloud gaming market will not be easy for Samsung. For example, the last company to enter this field with great enthusiasm was Google. They announced a service called Stadia in 2019 and launched it in 2020. Unfortunately, they closed Stadia in 2022 due to ongoing losses. Unfortunately, a similar fate may await Samsung.
