The new tool estimates annual electricity consumption and emissions using Nutanix Validated Designs.
The Nutanix Carbon and Power Estimator provides users with reports that provide insight into how IT infrastructure decisions can impact carbon footprints. The insights gained enable the development of more sustainable IT strategies. Based on user input about workloads, data center efficiency and location, an organization can see how IT decisions help achieve sustainability goals.
“Understanding what drives electricity consumption is an important first step for many companies wanting to make progress on sustainability,” said Sander Scholten, Netherlands sales manager at Nutanix. “The Nutanix Carbon and Power Estimator helps companies take initiative by informing organizations about factors that influence their impact on the environment.”
important functions
The tool allows IT teams to estimate the impact of various factors on energy and emissions for Nutanix solutions. You can also re-evaluate the geographical location. The Nutanix Carbon and Power Estimator shows the impact of shifting workloads to regions that use low-carbon sources of electricity generation.
Finally, you can also compare the power consumption of Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) and 3-tier (SAN-based) infrastructure. After using the tool, users can download a report that shows how removing SAN components can help reduce power consumption in certain situations.
Because each configuration is unique, the Nutanix Carbon and Power Estimator provides general estimates, rather than exact consumption figures, to help customers achieve their sustainability goals.
