Russian hacker group NoName 057 (16) attacked the websites of Finnish transport infrastructure and banks on Wednesday.
This was reported by Yle according to Ukrinform’s report.
The hackers said they initially attacked the websites of the transport company of the capital HSL and the transport and communications agency Traficom, the economic development, transport and environmental center of Ely-keskus.
They later claimed responsibility for denial-of-service attacks against Bank of Finland and OP Bank. Dos attacks have previously been confirmed in these institutions.
As of now, the sites were working fine or partially accessible.
Samuli Könenen, information security expert at Finnish transport and communications agency Traficom, confirmed to Yle that some sites have been down for some time.
According to him, Dos attacks have now become common. The expert is sure that Finland is ready for them. He also believes hackers may exaggerate the scale of their actions.
As reported by Ukrinform, at the end of September the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom was exposed for the third time to a DoS attack behind the Russian hacker group NoName 057(16).
