If you want the fastest external SSD storage today, you should look at Thunderbolt, which today hits the 10 GB/s mark. If you don’t have Thunderbolt, you’ll have to make do with significantly lower speeds. The Samsung T9’s predecessor, the T7, reached a maximum speed of 1 GB/s. The new Samsung T9 doubles this maximum read and write speed to 2 GB/s because it uses USB 3.2 Gen 2×2.
This eliminates the need for Thunderbolt, for which 2 GB/s is already sufficient, saving your budget significantly. Thunderbolt certification often means higher prices and your PC must support it too. Of course, your PC must also support USB 3.2 Gen 2×2. Those who have less have to make do with lower speeds.
The Samsung T9’s design can withstand drops of up to three meters and comes with a five-year limited warranty. A USB-A and USB-C cable is included to ensure compatibility with any system.
The Samsung Portable SSD T9 is now available at recommended retail prices of 154.99 euros for the 1 TB variant, 254.99 euros for the 2 TB variant and 464.99 euros for the 4 TB variant. All prices include VAT.
