Four Korean automakers recall nearly 8,000 vehicles due to faulty parts

Korea’s largest automakers Kia Motors, Volkswagen Group Korea, Stellantis Korea and EVion will recall approximately 8,000 vehicles due to faulty components that could lead to accidents.

Korea Times reported this, citing the South Korean Ministry of Transportation, Ukrinform reported.

Four companies are voluntarily recalling a total of 7,913 cars in five different models due to a range of problems, including a high risk of fire in the battery unit of the electric car Kia Soul EV, a malfunction of the seat belt system in the SUV Jeep. Problems in the power system of the Grand Cherokee Stellantis and the electric bus EVion.

Stellantis, a joint venture between American automaker Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and French PSA Group, sells Jeep, Peugeot and DS models in South Korea. DS was initially introduced as a premium sub-brand of Citroen, later becoming an independent brand.

According to Ukrinform’s news, Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota announced that the seat upholstery in some new car models will be made from materials obtained from recycling plastic bottles.
