Yesterday, Google launched the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, and with the new smartphones came the public version of Android 14 with a host of features, including a new wallpaper creator with artificial intelligence.

The new AI Wallpaper feature makes it easy to create a new background on your Pixel device using the company’s proprietary text-to-image model. You start by choosing a category, such as classical art, and then play with the text description to display different results. According to The Verga, you can choose the Dreamscape category, then define the structure, material, and color, and the result will be something like “Indigo Plant House,” which gives several images of buildings with front doors covered in greenery.

Google says generative AI wallpapers will first appear on the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, so most devices won’t be able to use them at launch. However, the statements assume that availability will increase in the future.

Generative AI wallpapers are just one of the many new features in Android 14, alongside lock screen customizations that let you choose different fonts and colors, situational widgets like the weather widget that stands out during a storm, and even a monochrome theme.

Android 14 is currently rolling out on supported Pixel devices and will also come to select devices from companies like Samsung, Nothing, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Sharp, Sony, Tecno, Vivo, and Xiaomi later this year.
