Today with Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro Google also officially unveiled the Pixel Watch 2and also the sensational news that, unlike its predecessor, which did not reach us (which was an understandable pity, because, as we said at the time, it was a rival to be reckoned with), in this in the event that it will be available in Spain from the first day of its launch and in fact, as we will remind you later, it is already possible to reserve it.
Although the smartwatch market has its specifics and competing with the most famous devices is a difficult bet, it is no less true that these Pixel Watch 2 He has all the necessary elements to become a contender to be reckoned with for the same. And in addition to generally talking about a very well-designed device with a really attractive appearance (yes, I’m aware that it depends on taste, but personally I think it’s beautiful), it has excellent integration with Google services, with the Pixel ecosystem and with all the knowledge and know-how that Fitbit has accumulated over the years.
After the initial version that was launched last year, this time we find a renewal based not so much on components and performance (although that also exists) but on the large number of features it adds, and these are ultimately to a large extent what determines whether a device is more or less interesting to its potential users. An asset that Google has been able to play with great skill with both the Pixel 8 and these Pixel Watch 2s.

The most notable change with respect to its predecessor is undoubtedly found in the brain of the Pixel Watch 2, compared to the Exynos 9110 that we found in it, Google took a leap in height when it decided on the Snapdragon Wear W5 Gen 1, a chip that integrates a five-core CPU (its predecessor only had two) and which was designed by Qualcomm with a focus on high-end wearable devices. This manifests itself not only in smoother operation, but also in a larger range of functions, which is additionally complemented by higher energy efficiency. The SoC is complemented by 2 gigabytes of SDRAM and 32 gigabytes of eMMC Flash storage.
Its screen also stands out. It repeats the curved design along the edges that we saw on the Watch 1 which, to guarantee its durability, was made with a personalized 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Underneath it we find a 1.2-inch AMOLED panel with a density of 320 dots per inch, which can be used comfortably even outside. , is capable of scaling up to 1,000 nits while ensuring fidelity by being compatible with the DCI-P3 color space.
For the construction of its body, Google chose recycled aluminum, which ensures both durability and very light body, only 31 grams without strap. And accordingly, another success of Google, the Pixel Watch 2 will arrive accompanied by a wide and varied collection of straps: perforated sports, textile, elastic, handmade leather, sports, metal links (armis) … all options can be found at this link .
In terms of connectivity, the Google Pixel Watch 2 version will arrive in Spain and offer WiFi 802.11 b/g/n (2.4 GHz) and Bluetooth 5.0which are supplemented by NFC and something that is not so common in smartwatches, geolocation. A version with LTE cellular connectivity will also be launched in the US market. And this whole set is powered by a battery, which, together with the SoC and the operating system, significantly improves the autonomy of the watch. With its 306 milliamps, it is now able to provide 24 hours of autonomy with an active function always on the screen. It uses magnetic charging with USB-C for charging, and the total charging time is about 80 minutes to 100% or 30 minutes to 50%.
We also found several improvements regarding the sensors, both in their quantity and type, and in their operation. As you can see in the table, this Google Pixel Watch 2 is a high-end quantifier, which also complements its capabilities in this sense with the tools (and of course the knowledge) of Fitbit, which, as you remember, was acquired by Google in November 2019. So we can understand This smartwatch combines Fitbit’s quantification know-how with Google’s app and device know-how.. A set that is still being added WearOS 4.0.
The new Google Pixel Watch 2 is now available for pre-order, will be available from October 12 and is priced at 1,099 euros.
