He Nobel Prize Bangladesh and the famous “banker of the poor” Muhammad Yunuswas interrogated for an hour at Bangladesh Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) this Thursday, after he was accused of embezzle $2.35 million in a case that was criticized by important world leaders.

In statements made to the media after the interrogation ended at the ACC headquarters in Dhaka, Yunus added:

I came here by request, I have nothing to add. This is a legal issue and will be reviewed by my team.

The Nobel Peace Prize winner arrived at the scene around 9:30 local time, surrounded by lawyers and comrades, and stayed a little over an hour answering questions anti-corruption body.

Yunus was summoned by the ACC on September 27 while he was in the US and, according to his lawyer Abdullah Al Mamun, today denied accusations of embezzlement.

“The accusations brought against him are completely untrue.”– he said after the first extrajudicial interrogation of a Nobel Prize laureate.

This is the latest legal action against Yunus by Bangladeshi authorities since he was removed by the government from his post as managing director of Grameen microcredit bank in 2011.

Yunus, however, looks: numerous lawsuitsa veritable campaign of prosecution according to more than 170 world figures, including the former US President. Barack Obama And former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, who in late August expressed concern about recent threats to democracy in Bangladesh and the brutality against Yunus.
