North Korea may attempt to launch a military spy satellite into space for the third time between October 10 and 26 just to beat South Korea, despite technical problems with the launch.

This is the conclusion reached by experts from the Korean National Unification Institute, Ukrinform reported, citing Yonhap.

The potential launch window projected by the South Korean institute takes into account key political and diplomatic events in and around North Korea, where Pyongyang wants to demonstrate its strengthening capabilities.

In particular, they include October 10, which marks the 78th anniversary of the founding of North Korea’s ruling Workers’ Party, one of the country’s biggest national holidays, and on which they traditionally try to time some kind of “achievement.”

It is also taking into account the holding of China’s “One Belt One Road” initiative international forum in mid-month, where Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin will meet.

In addition, Pyongyang may go for an early launch as South Korea plans to launch its first reconnaissance satellite in November as part of a project to deploy five spacecraft by the mid-2020s.

Experts recalled that North Korea tried to launch the Malligyong-1 satellite on a new Chollima-1 rocket in May and August, but both attempts ended in failure – due to technical malfunctions, rockets with satellites crashed immediately after launch. At the time, North Korea said it would conduct a third test in October, although there was not enough time to resolve complex technical issues surrounding the launch.

“Pyongyang will probably try to launch its spy satellite before South Korea’s attempt. “It seems that with the launch of the satellite, the North prefers a political message rather than improving technical aspects,” the institute said.

North Korea’s military spy satellite is one of the high-tech weapons that North Korea has promised to develop, along with a solid-fueled intercontinental ballistic missile and a nuclear-powered submarine.

After Russian and North Korean dictators met in the Russian Federation’s Far East last month, it is believed that North Korea and Russia signed an arms deal and Pyongyang agreed to transfer weapons to Moscow for the war against Ukraine in exchange for Russian missiles. Fears about nuclear technology.

According to Ukrinform, the North Korean parliament approved constitutional amendments that include stating the country’s nuclear status in the Constitution text.
