From January to June 2023, computer emergency response teams processed 762 cyber incidents; All cyber attacks were repelled.
This was announced on Telegram by Deputy Prime Minister for the Development of Innovation, Education, Science and Technology – Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukrinform reported.
“A total of 762 cyber incidents were evaluated by CERT-UA experts in the period January-June 2023. Ukraine repelled all cyber attacks; there was no serious damage to the economy and defense capabilities. And Ukrainians continue to receive high-quality digital services.” writes the message.
According to the State Special Communications Service, the number of cyber incidents in the first half of 2023 increased by 123%, from 342 in the same period last year.
Fedorov emphasized that Russians mostly attack government institutions, critical infrastructure and business. The focus is on the media, defense and security sectors. The enemy is trying to obtain evidence of Russia’s war crimes, information about spies and prisoners of war.
At the same time, the level of critical cyber incidents has decreased significantly; The number, which was 319 in 2022, dropped to 27 this year.

“This is the result of strengthening cyber protection in recent years. We have invested in this area, recruited the best experts and worked with international partners. Now Ukraine’s cyber resilience is based on European norms and NATO standards,” he added.
As reported, since the beginning of the year, cyber experts of the Security Service of Ukraine have neutralized nearly four thousand cyber attacks by Russian hackers on electronic systems of central authorities and critical infrastructure.
