Tesla has reduced prices of some versions of its Model 3 and Model Y cars in the US after the company said deliveries in the third quarter of this year fell short of market expectations.

This was reported by CNBC, according to Ukrifnorm’s report.

Currently on the Tesla website the starting price for the Model 3 is $38,990, while its previous price was $40,240. The dual-motor Model 3 drops from $47,240 to $45,990, while the Model 3 Performance drops from $53,240 to $50,990.

Tesla’s Model Y Performance sport utility vehicle now starts at $52,490, down from $54,490.

Tesla has been reducing the prices of its cars worldwide since last year in an attempt to stimulate demand due to concerns about slowing consumer spending in the US and Chinese markets as well as intensifying competition in the electric car market.

Additionally, Tesla regularly changes the prices of its vehicles, especially in its largest markets, the US and China. But the latest price cuts come just days after Tesla reported shipping 435,059 vehicles; This met analysts’ expectations and marked a decrease from the previous quarter.

Tesla attributed this decline to the modernization of the factory, which led to idle production capacity.

Tesla still plans to deliver 1.8 million vehicles this year.

According to the news of Ukrinform, Tesla company published a report on the production and delivery of electric cars for the third quarter of 2023.
