Samsung is preparing a 432 megapixel sensor for smartphones

A person known as (X)Revegnus on Twitter revealed details about Samsung’s upcoming image sensors. It turned out that the company has prepared two sensors with a resolution of 432 MP at the same time!

Apparently, numerous tests have long shown that photo quality does not depend on the number of megapixels (Apple can explain this especially well), but Samsung apparently thinks otherwise.

The new sensors will be offered as part of the ISOCELL HW series. There will be two models: ISOCELL HW1 and ISOCELL HW2. The resolution in both cases is the same, 432 MP, but the diagonal of the sensor is slightly different and, accordingly, the pixel size is different: HW1 – 1/1.05 inch and 0.56 µm, HW2 – 1/1.07 inch and 0.5 µm.

It’s hard to say yet whether ISOCELL HW sensors will be better than Sony inch sensors. If they can capture more light, then perhaps a real breakthrough could occur. However, Sony is not sitting idle either.

Revegnus also reported that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will get a 50-megapixel ISOCELL GN3 as the main camera, while the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will use an all-new (and not yet officially available) HP5 sensor.

As its name suggests, the HP5 will be a much more advanced version of the existing 200-megapixel HP3. Insider Revegnus was the first to publish the pre-release photo of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 and also revealed the Exynos 2400 specifications, which were later confirmed on Geekbench.
