Colombians ask to be transferred to a safer prison

The deceased were in the seventh pavilion of the penitentiary, officially called the Guayas Detention Center No. 1 and located in the city of Guayaquil, with a dozen pavilions controlled by various criminal groups, where about 5,700 people are detained.

A warning about the death of the alleged Villavicencio killers was issued earlier by the civil platform SOS Cárceles Ecuador, which classified it as a murder and reported that six Colombians allegedly requested transfer to a safer prison.

According to reports from prison guards quoted by SOS Carceles Ecuador, the bodies of the murdered prisoners “They show no signs of torture or battle wounds.“.

The Litoral penitentiary system is the largest detention center in the Guayaquil prison complex, consisting of five prisons that house a total of approximately 12,300 people.
