The Ministry of Digital Transformation has developed a roadmap for the regulation of artificial intelligence in Ukraine.

As reported by Ukrinform, Deputy Prime Minister for the Development of Innovations, Education, Science and Technologies – Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced this on Telegram.

“Artificial intelligence is an inevitable trend. Therefore, Ukraine needs clear rules for developing business and protecting human rights in interaction with AI,” he said.

According to Fedorov, these are steps that will allow Ukrainian companies to compete with European companies in the field of artificial intelligence, attracting investment and business experience, as well as making the digital environment safe for people.

As the Deputy Prime Minister noted, the document is based on a bottom-up approach that involves moving from small to large. Implementation of the approach consists of two stages.

“In the first phase, we are providing businesses with tools to prepare for future AI regulations. From assessing the technology’s impact on human rights to signing voluntary codes of conduct. We will also publish recommendations and a White Paper to answer questions about what needs to be done now and what to expect in the future,” he said. he emphasized.

Fedorov added that the second stage is the adoption of a law similar to the European Artificial Intelligence Law. According to him, this will make it possible to create the same legal regimes in the field of artificial intelligence as in the EU, simplify cooperation with European partners and attract investments.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, together with the IT Ukraine association and the TopLead agency, created the first catalog of Ukrainian IT companies and IT products.
