Mobile phones are getting bigger and I still want to use them with one hand: this free app makes my job so much easier

Whether we like it or not, big mobile phones are here to stay. This means that those of us who like smaller terminals will have to search the market to find the few remaining compact phones. Although I like the screen and battery of devices with a good diagonal, I really appreciate the lightness and handling of smaller models. I found the solution to continue controlling my Android phones with one hand for free, no matter how big they are It’s on the Google Play Store and worth a try.

In my case, I usually use Samsung Galaxy A71 and OnePlus 9 Pro, both cases have 6.7 inch screens. a diagonal that is impossible to hold with one hand. So I need both limbs for tasks like entering the control center or Instagram stories… until I install the Quick Cursor app (available for free with in-app purchases on the Google Play Store).

How does Quick Cursor work and what does it do?

It will be required after downloading the app enable it in the Accessibility section of the phone’s Settings and grant relevant permissions. Although it requires permission to activate, it is not abusable as it cannot control the phone and does not collect and send data over the internet. The app in question has been on the Google Play Store for years and has a good rating of 4.4 for its good functioning and usefulness.

quick cursor permission

From that moment on, a new method control the entire screen using a cursor I can call it up by touching the sides of the phone, so it doesn’t get in the way when I don’t need it (e.g. to watch a video).

By authorizing and enabling the above, the app places a cursor on the screen that you can control with your thumb, allowing you to interact with buttons and other parts of the on-screen interface. The good thing is This cursor is not always present, preventing rendering, but we can easily initiate this by swiping the sides of the phone to the right or left. You can choose this calling area and sensitivity.

When the cursor appears, we will move it along the upper area of the screen we can tap the buttons to activate or deactivate functions as far as we are interested. I must admit, it takes some getting used to this new form of control at first, but it’s precise and agile.

Although the app is free and does not contain any ads, paid version unlocks more customization options.
