Acer has introduced new equipment under the Chrome OS operating system, which features the convertible Chromebook Spin 14. It also announced a business variant and the Chromebook Tab 510, which is an interesting novelty in tablets with Chrome OS.

Google is significantly improving its PC platform, and Chromebooks are now a real alternative to Windows and macOS computers. Acer was one of the first manufacturers to support them and no wonder they were restored at the Next @ Acer 2022 off-Windows conference we saw yesterday:

Improvements to the Google platform went hand in hand with Chrome OS and greater application support, but also with important advances in hardware, as shown by this convertible device using the latest Intel Core Alder Lake series processors. In terms of connectivity, it supports Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2and contains a large number of ports including HDMI and two Thunderbolt. It has a backlit keyboard, an optional fingerprint reader and autonomy for 10 hours of use.

After Google abandoned the marketing of its own models, there were no tablets left in Chrome OS, so this launch by Acer is important. The Chromebook Tab 510 is based on a 10.1-inch IPS multi-touch display with a native resolution of WUXGA 1,920 x 1,200 pixels and is powered by the platform Snapdragon 7c Gen 2which, in addition to Wi-Fi, optionally offers 4G LTE mobile broadband.

This Chromebook complies with MIL-STD 810H, has an impact-resistant chassis, shock-absorbing bumper and a durable design that protects it from falls from a height of 48 inches. The surface of its touch screen is additionally equipped with antimicrobial glass Corning Gorilla Glass to reduce the growth of microorganisms causing odors and stains.

It is optimized for video conferencing and has a 5 megapixel front MIPI webcam for video calling and an 8 megapixel rear MIPI webcam for taking pictures. It features a USI stylus with 4,096 sensitivity levels, and Acer sells a separately optional keyboard cover that allows you to use the device as if it were a laptop. The Chromebook Tab 510 offers up to 11 hours of battery life on a single charge.

For the commercial market, Acer offers variants of the above consumer, Chromebook Enterprise Spin 714 and Acer Chromebook Enterprise Tab 510 Chrome OS business integration “Providing employees with modern experience and fast equipment, with built-in security, quick installation and reduced overall costs”explains Acer.
